While they do provide vegetarian meals, they are not nearly as good as the non-vegetarian options. You can choose from a range of kababs if you enjoy non-vegetarian cuisine.

 

Purchasing

Near the sections that descend, there are a few handicraft stores where you may get carpets, mats, and various handcrafted metal objects. But you’ll have to drive to Srinagar for fine baskets, shawls, and other delicate items.

Plants and Animals

The Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve, which is southwest of Srinagar, is home to a diverse range of rich flora and fauna. Here, one may easily spot a variety of uncommon and exotic species, including the Serow, Leopard, Musk Deer, Black Bear, Hangul, Red Fox, Brown Bear, and Leopard. This biosphere is frequently visited by ornithologists who come to view birds such as the European Hoopoe, Griffon vulture, Koklas, Kashmir roller, Blue Rock Pigeon, and Snow Cock.

More than 90% of the flora is made up of conifers. The other important plant species include Aesculus indica, Pinus griffithii, Cedrus deodara, Abies pindrow, Dicotyledonus herb, and shrubs including Viburnum, Indigofera heterantha, and Sorbaria tomentosa.

How to Get There

By Air: The Badgam area is home to the closest airport. The airport in Srinagar is about 57 kilometers away.
By Rail: Jammu is the closest railhead, located 305 kilometers away (about 8 hours by car).
By Bus: From Srinagar, you can drive via Tangmarg to Gulmarg. By vehicle or bus, it takes barely one hour.
