Temples play a significant role in the character and distinctiveness of J&K. In addition to the beautiful landscape and wildlife, one may see several imposing temples while in this northernmost state of India. The majority of people in Jammu, Ladakh, and the Kashmir area are Hindu. This explains the presence of number of temples in the state, surrounded by lakes, rivers, snow and alpines.
